The Mouse and the Light was written by Author Lisa Suhay for her children shortly after the events of September 11th took place. The author, a native of New York City, lived in New Jersey at the time and was concerned at how the panic and terror quickly spread to the children in her community, followed by the deep suspicion and fear of anyone who was “different.”
It has since been posted told and published by people trying to help spread the word about peace around the world. Some of the places where this story has been featured: Asharq Al-Awsat Newspaper in Saudi Arabia * Arab Radio & TV Network * Voice of America Radio in Afghanistan * Rebuild-Afghanistan.com * Radio Afghanistan. It has been turned into a symphony by Composer Eric Chappelle and played in concert in New York City and other national and international venues to raise funds for families affected by the events of September 11th. The story has been used in areas around the world where terrorists recruit young children to their cause and has been translated and performed in schools in those areas.
